Review: Iron Man 3 Does Dark Knight Rises Better Than DKR Did
Iron Man 3 Shows The Dark Knight How To Rise Better
I suppose it was only a matter of time before someone decided they could do a better job of telling a superhero story about the consequences of hubris or just plain bad decisions than Christopher Nolan did with his much-maligned final chapter of the Dark Knight saga, but I have to admit that I never imagined it would happen in the form of an Iron Man sequel written and directed by Shane Black. Nevertheless, here we are, and because I hate leaving people waiting until the last 30 seconds of the broadcast for an actual verdict, let’s just lay it out right here: not only is Iron Man 3 the best of the Iron Man movies, but it’s probably one of the best realized superhero movies to date. And yes, it’s better than The Dark Knight Rises. I’ll tell you all the reasons why after the break–and don’t worry, I’ll keep it spoiler-free.

We’ve been following the development of the Marvel Universe avidly. This fall, Thor stars in another movie with Thor: The Dark World.
The trailer teases at some of the plot points we were hoping for: Thor’s relationship with Jane, more interaction between Earth and Asgard, and, of course, epic battle scenes. Post production on the film was finished last week, so we’re looking forward to more upcoming teases and trailers before the November release!

Nerdgasm: Star Trek Into Darkness Teaser
Star Trek Into Darkess Brings Trek Back In Name Only, it Seems
Well that was fast. Hot on the heels of Paramount’s new Star Trek Into Darkness poster (which is relatively cool, in a Dark Knight Rises sort of way), they’ve gone and released the next wave of hype for the new sequel, a big, noisy teaser.
So how’s it look? Well…not like a Star Trek movie, that’s for sure. It looks more like Michael Bay and Darth Vader kidnapped the Enterprise and went joyriding. Apparently something explodes, the Enterprise crashes, something else explodes, Kirk grins sheepishly, yet another thing explodes, Uhura gets sad, something’s swallowed by hot lava, Pike does something in his wheelchair, and…then something else explodes.
I hope the movie is better than the trailer makes it out to be, but I suppose only time will tell.

Star Trek Into Darkness has a Poster! Nerdgasm!
I Need to Star Trek into the Bathroom to Change My Underpants, NPP-1701
There are exactly two things in the world of sci-fi nerd-dom that can instantly induce revulsion in one half of the clan and orgasmic bliss in the other: Star Wars News and Star Trek News. If you are Han Solo or James T. Kirk, you hold great power over such things as, well, my…yeah let’s not go there.
Long story short, there’s finally an interesting poster revealed for the upcoming sequel to 2009′s reboot of Gene Roddenberry’s nearly half-century old landmark, Star Trek. Don’t try saying that out loud three times fast, it may kill you, but do click through after the break for a look at the full poster!

Joss Whedon Returns to TV for SHIELD Series
Fanboys Weep as Images of Joss Whedon with a SHIELD Logo Appear on Toast
Source: The Hollywood Reporter
I just wet my pants: Joss Whedon, one of today’s hottest writer/director combo superguy thingies, is confirmed to be returning to television for the first time since his troubled series “Dollhouse” limped to the finish line in 2010. But more importantly, in the time since his last high-concept show’s death, Whedon’s gone on to direct a tiny little movie you may’ve heard about: Marvel’s The Avengers, the third highest grossing movie yet produced. Pretty slick.
According to the release, Whedon will write and may direct the pilot episode of SHIELD, if his schedule permits. In addition to “the Man himself,” Whedon’s brother Zack will also write and produce the show, along with his wife Maurisa Tancharoen. Besides sharing in common writing duties on the aforementioned “Dollhouse,” the younger Whedon and Ms. Tancharoen also co-wrote the cult favorite web series, “Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along-Blog,” which took the web pretty much by storm back during the writer’s strike. Read on after the break for more details!

Frank Miller’s Batman: The Dark Knight Returns Trailer!
Frank Miller’s Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, FINALLY in Movie Form!
Get More: MTV Shows
While Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises continues tearing it up in theaters, another vision–those in the know would say a superior vision–of Batman’s final days is under production for release in September. For Batman fans, this book is practically legendary: Frank Miller’s Batman: The Dark Knight Returns. Originally released in 1986, the four part comic series, later released as a trade paperback/graphic novel, begins 10 years after Bruce Wayne has retired from his tenure as Batman. As Gotham descends into anarchy, a by-product of the federal government’s criminalization of costumed heroes, Bruce finally cracks and returns to don the cape and cowl for one final front in the war to put fear into the hearts of real criminals.
The trailer was released today by MTV and highlights the first half of the epic, coming in September!
I can’t wait–this is the way a truly great Batman finale is written!
