Because a Justice League Trailer Should be Fun
Man, today’s been busy at San Diego Comic Con, hasn’t it? Wonder Woman, Justice League, some movie about a giant monkey. But let’s be honest: the one you really care about checking out is Justice League, because it’s gotta be better than Batman v Superman, right? Well, you’re in luck. In addition to the fact that they splurged on light and color this time around, there are actual smiles in the trailer. Think about that for a moment: a Zack Snyder movie with an actual smile in it. And laughter, even! So without further ado, the Justice League Trailer.
While obviously it’s too much to say it’ll be great based on an early trailer, it does look like fun. And, true to Geoff Johns’ statement a few weeks back, it seems like there’s some optimism in there, too. I’m not sure Snyder will survive the production with all these lights, colors and smiles, but that’s a risk I’m willing to take.
Okay, That’s Nice, What’s In the Justice League Trailer?
Jeez, you’re impatient. You could’ve watched the damned thing by now. There’s fun stuff, here. Affleck apparently goes around telling everyone he’s Batman, which is…odd. Barry Allen seems fun, though I’m not sure how I feel about the “I need friends” line. It sounds a little desperate, no? Wonder Woman / Diana Prince as Bruce Wayne’s team-building partner is a solid choice, and she appears at least an equal. There’s a fun self-deprecating moment where Bruce tells her that someone (Cyborg, probably, but maybe Aquaman) is “more or less” on board, and she asks, “More more, or more less?” He answers with a defeated “More less”, she spits, “He said no.” and he sinks into a “Yeah.” And really, this is the kind of stuff these movies need, not dour looks, cynicism and brooding. These are goddamn superhero comic book characters, after all, not nihilists :P.
