Seagate’s 4TB USB Hard Drive Will Hold a Lot of Games
Remember the days when a 20GB hard drive on a console seemed spacious? When a 120GB seemed luxurious? When gaining the ability to use a USB Hard Drive at all seemed like a gift from the heavens? Yeah, those days are over and done. Microsoft and Sony’s latest systems, awesome as they are, do come with some drawbacks. Chief among these has to be the fact that their bundled 500GB to 1TB hard drives just aren’t that big anymore. With game sizes now taking up a whopping 40GB+ just for a single game, it doesn’t take much of a library to bring your Xbox One or PlayStation 4’s ability to download new games and patches to a screeching halt.
Enter Seagate’s new USB Hard Drive, the Seagate Backup Plus 4TB, which drops a full four terabytes into your lab and, as an added bonus, requires no external power adapter. Simply plug it into your Xbox One and go. For PS4, it’ll work to read whatever media you have on the drive (Music, movies, etc) but it’s not useful for games, unfortunately. Still, in the past you’ve been able to crack open certain USB Hard Drive models and pull the SATA drive within out and repurpose it for PS3 or PS4. The drive contained in this unit is a 2.5″ drive at 15mm tall.
I have no idea how long this sale will last, so you should hurry up and grab it before it’s gone! This should slake your game and DLC storage needs for at least the rest of the year, even with all the high profile releases coming down the pike.
