Windows 10 Upgrade or ISO Download Available!
I’m gonna make this short and sweet: Windows 10 is out, and if you don’t fancy sitting around, twiddling your thumbs as you wait for the little icon in your system tray to finally announce it’s ready to install, you can take matters into your own hands. Microsoft has kindly provided a tool to download and create installable media on your USB Flash drive of choice, or even to install the OS directly on whatever computer you’re running.
When you run the utility (Tip: you’ll more than likely need the 64 bit version unless you’re using an Atom processor from a couple of years ago or earlier), there really are only two options: Install Windows 10 on this PC, or Create Media to install it on a different PC. Pick what’s best for you and off you go!
Once you’ve grabbed the files you need, be sure to check out our quick tutorial on how to build a bootable USB installation stick or DVD media. It’ll get you prepped and ready to install the new OS on your favorite desktop, laptop, and maybe even tablet. When you’re done, don’t forget to do a disk cleanup. It’ll clear several gigabytes of space used by the installation software, as well as remove your old version of Windows so it’s not cluttering up your disk.
