iPhone 5 is rumored to be launched on September 12th
Media outlets received a message from Apple to an invitation-only event on September 12th. The event is set to begin at 10 am PT. Given the picture above, with the “5” barely hidden, we can only assume that Apple is going to release the iPhone 5. iMore and other outlets have been hinting at this launch, and predict that the phones will hit stores on September 21st.
The iPhone 5 seems to be a minor update of the iPhone 4S, including such features as a slightly larger screen, a faster processor, 4G LTE networking, a smaller dock connector (great, a need for a new cord) and possibly NFC technology, making it easier to use an iPhone for purchases. The phone is assumed to be both lighter and faster.
It may, however, not be smaller. There are reports that Apple will be moving to a four inch, 16:9 screen. This is larger than the current 3.5″ screen, and more in line with what Samsung and other smart phone makers have started releasing. While Apple hasn’t confirmed the screen size, various outlets, such as the Wall Street Journal, iMore, and iLounge have mentioned a resolution of 1136 x 640 over the past few months.
